Nearly Five
Decades of
Spirit Soccer
Since 1975, the Temple Terrace Spirit has been developing boys and girls across the Tampa Bay area — building not just players, but people. What began as a grassroots effort in the growing suburb of Temple Terrace has become one of the region's most enduring youth soccer institutions.
Organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation under Florida law, the Club was founded on a simple principle: every child, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or national origin, deserves the opportunity to participate, grow, and thrive through the game of soccer.
In 1981, the Temple Terrace Spirit Soccer Association was formally established, deepening the Club's roots in the local community and cementing its commitment to accessible, high-quality youth soccer for generations of Temple Terrace families.
Community
First. Always
Has Been.
Temple Terrace has long distinguished itself as a family-oriented community — a city with a sense of identity, history, and belonging. Spirit Soccer has always reflected those qualities. We are not just a soccer club. We are a social fabric for families across Temple Terrace.
From the beginning, the association relied on the energy of local families, volunteer coaches, and community-driven leadership. That grassroots character has never left us — even as our programs have grown and our competitive reach has expanded.
The Spirit Way video series exists to preserve and share this story: who we are, what we have built, and why it matters to the community we serve. We invite you to be part of the next chapter.
Growing
Players &
People
The Temple Terrace Spirit is organized to develop and promote the game of soccer by providing meaningful opportunities for the youth of the greater Tampa Bay area — from first kicks to competitive play at the highest levels.
We foster fair play, teamwork, and personal growth through structured, inclusive programs. Coaches and players are developed side by side, with parents serving as equal partners in each child's journey.
Our mission is grounded in the belief that soccer is more than a sport — it is a vehicle for building confidence, friendships, discipline, and community belonging that lasts a lifetime.
The Heart
of Soccer in
Temple Terrace
We aspire to be the definitive home for youth soccer in Temple Terrace and the surrounding Tampa Bay community — a club where every player is known, valued, and developed to their fullest potential.
Our vision is a program that bridges recreation and elite competition seamlessly, where national-caliber achievement and neighborhood camaraderie coexist. A place where families return generation after generation because the Spirit is worth coming back to.
What Defines
the Spirit
Three principles at the heart of Temple Terrace Spirit Soccer
The Spirit has always been a family club. From the volunteer parents who shaped our early years to the multi-generational households who return season after season, we exist because of the families who invest in us — and we invest back in them through a culture of inclusion, warmth, and genuine belonging.
We develop players and coaches alike — not just tactically or technically, but as whole people. Progress on the pitch should mirror growth in character: in confidence, in resilience, in the ability to lead and to listen. We measure success by how far each individual travels, not just where they place.
Winning a national championship in 1993 was not an accident — it was the result of a culture that had been quietly built for nearly two decades. That legacy does not belong to a single team or a single season. It belongs to every Spirit player who has ever worn the crest and every family who has trusted us with their child's development.
